Some of my CDRs have distortion, particularly with vocals in automobiles equipped with FM modulation CD players, (CD players that interface to the FM receiver in the vehicle). I have noticed to some extent, that some commercially available CDs exhibit the same behavior. Some less than others. Any ideas on how to remedy this situation?

How do these CDs sound in a home CD player? is there distortion there also? If it is only happening with the FM car stereo CD players I would say that that is where the problem is.
If you are getting distortion from the CD on a home CD player then I would take a look at where the audio is coming from and how it's getting to CD.
Unless you made any gain changes from within Masterlist CD (MLCD) you should be getting out on CD exactly what you put in since it's simply a digital transfer.
I would trace the audio back through each step of the way to see where the distortion was introduced. If the audio was originally recorded in Pro Tools, is there distortion in Pro Tools. Import the bounced files back into Pro Tools and see how they sound there.
Open the Masterlist CD masterlist and see if the audio is distorted there.
If there is no distortion in MLCD playback but there is distortion on the CD playback from a home/studio CD Player (non-FM CD player configuration), you should probably give us a call here at Digidesign Tech Supt.

I've been in the Car Audio for a while
And FM modulaters are Know for that Noise
This is very noticable at a soft pasage of music
The louder the music the less noise you hear Signal to noise I guess would be a proper term.
