Too soon for this kinda thread ?
Don't have one ... (yet) ... but have been thinking 'bout it quite a bit. from the demo I got I could tell that the 'custom fader' thingy in particular was one with plenty of options. Like bringin the track you want to automate up on it .... in the sweet spot, right where you want it to be.
particullary interested in things the D-control can do that others like PC can't ... or do easier ...

I'll toss in a couple to get this thread started:
1) At any time, you can hold down the <command>, <option>, and <control> keys and touch an encoder to enable it's current parameter for automation.
2) You can easily build a LARC-style controller for a reverb (etc.) in the Custom Faders Plugin Mode. The only limitation is that you can't control more than one plugin at a time. But you can easily get around this thanks to the Custom Faders Custom Groups mode. Just add the reverb track to the Custom Group multiple times and map the desired parameters onto the faders. If you want to have four assignable parameters, just add the track four times, etc. Repeat for each plugin. Now you can have LARC-style controllers for multiple plugins (ReVibe!) all at the same time. It takes longer to set up than the Plugin Mode but the result is worth it.
3) If you don't want to use up your 12 available Custom Faders Custom Groups for simple tasks, just use one of the 26 Custom Faders Mix and Edit Groups but leave the group INACTIVE. That way, you can instantly call up a certain set of faders (Drums, Vocals, FX, MX, DX, etc.) without the tracks actually "grouping" as far as mixing and editing are concerned.
There you go.
Let's see who else chimes in...

yea I remember 1) from the demo now ... very cool.
the LARC thingy you just described ? does that custom setup get saved with the session or even way cooler ... does it get saved in the plugin prefs so every time from that point on you can go to that particular edit setup no matter what session you're in ?

Custom fader Groups are stored with the session. "Plug-in" custom faders are stored in the prefs.
Hence, setting up templates with your favourite custom fader groups is a good practice.
- 'FLOP' (ctrl-flip) moves the flipped encoder row to the bottom encoder. Nice feature, but it should be possible to flop to any encoder
- you can view sends/inserts from top - bottom or vica versa on the encoders, depending on what you're used to
- channel meters and encoder meters can show gain reduction from dynamics plugin
What I actually do miss, is the channel matrix, that the PC used to have.

There are so many ways to view and access plug in's.
I like going into focus mode, holding down shift and selecting the track plug ins and getting several up on screen at once. Then you can tweek, say the EQ panel, just by hitting select on the track and quickly bring up any tracks EQ right to the dedicated panel by hitting track select. You never have to take your one hand off the EQ knob as you go back and forth with your other hand hitting track select, comparing settings, etc...... Bang-Bang really fast going back and forth for ultra tweek, ultra fast!!!
You can then hide all the on-screen plug in's by hitting option-Plug In from the windows management screen, an easy reach for my thumb/middle finger.

On a 32 fader model with the D-control in the middle, and with the new PT 6.7, you can Right center justify the custom faders and the first one starts closest to your right hand and add going away from you to the right. You can make the custom group 16 faders on your right hand and have all the non-custom fader tracks occupying the left side and you can quickly bank around with your left hand and the right hand side sits still, and at any moment you can pop up what you want on the right side. It's like having two completely separate mixers. It's more logical for me since it goes upwards to the right.

Is theer any reason they didn't encorporate a single switch for that?
Aren't there enough stupid key commands yet?

They did. It's called the 'auto' button. Located in the bottom center of both dynamic and eq panels.

Hey Icon brothers...any new tips / tricks to report?
I can't remember the shortcut for seeing the edit screen whatever you touch, i.e. mutes, volume, etc. by touching the mute button plus what?

Control + apple key Jeff. LOTTA power in those 2
those keys + touching or pushing will view in the edit window on the corresponding track :
fader : volume
mute : mute
select : waveform
knobs : whatever parameter is assigned to the knob on condition that it is automation enabled : pan / plugin parameters / send levels etc etc ....
Also : holding Ctrl + option + apple keys plus left and right arrows on the keyboard will let you scroll through all the tracks at the same time.
another one I use all the time : ctr + selecting a track will bring that track to the top of the edit window.

Sweet. Thanks man, that helps alot. Have u come up with a slick shortcut for comp'ing vocals? I'm still doing the way I always have which is kinda slow now in comparision. Thanks!

I hear you. I've tried giving playlists another thorough try but it simply doesn't work for me. True ... much more convenient with the soft key playlist button but still ... as long as I cannot access them directly from some kind of shortcut ..... pffffff. Prefer to have say 12 seperate tracks for recording the lead and then comp to a new one from there on.
Now imagine this .... been asking this for a while ... even back with the procontrol : Wouldn't it be awesome wicked cool if you could set a preference where the 'cursor' would automatically apear in the selected track. that would be sooooooooo cool and make use of stuff like the scrubwheel so much more convenient. Ctrl selecting a track for example would not only bring that track to the top of the edit window view, but user definable also put the cursor in THAT track at the current position in time PLUS automatically put in in a user definable track height and even zoom wiith just one click. mhuhuhhahahaha ....
other then that ... usually .... and since it's so much more convenient since D control, I have the select preference set to latch and then make use of the show / hide soft keys. Select the tracks with the takes - show selected - and then comp from there on. Or like the last one I did, have the tracks to comp on a Custom fader bank.

YES!!! Then applekey/V and bam it's there in the comp track

Not sure if I'm following you on this except the custom fader thing, which I do now for comping...still have to roller ball around though!

CF is pretty straigh foreward right .... assign the tracks to comp to a CF bank including the comped track.
On occasions however I have more then 8 tracks to comp from and since my CF pref is set to 8, I'll use the show/hide softkeys instead.
- select the tracks you need to 'view' in the edit window. (I have the select pref set to latch so I don't have to hold the shift button to select multiple tracks)
- Then go to the show/hide softkey and push 'show selected only'. This way your edit window only shows the tracks you want to edit from / with. Much more convenient this way then having the other 60 in there too. switching back to 'show all' after the comp is done.
I used to assign 'show/hide' locators to this sort of stuff but the downside of those is that if you want to add a track you have to edit the locator or manually add it from the edit window track collumn. Show/hide from the soft keys is more convenient imho.

Cool, haven't used that yet.
It's so easy to get into the mode of "man this is great" without realizing there are many more features to make life easier that I haven't tried.
