Did anyone check out at AES the ICON machine control thing....related to Soundmaster?
How does it work. Can someone describe it? It sounds interesting.

Andrew,
Yes it's made my Soundmaster. It has machine control and Pec/Direct switches for those Re-Recording Mixers who need to punch their tracks in/ out as they go. It is on a stand that slides up/ down the console so the Mixer doesn't have to reach back to the center section. For the more traditional Mixers this might be what they need to make the transition to mixing in Pro Tools. This will allow them to record either in the box or to another recorder such as a MMR8.

THis is good Dr. Sound, as this is what the ICON really needed in the first place. It will give people options, and that's what I think is really important.
Maybe the dub stages using Control 24's presently...will upgrade to ICONs? And technically then, the ICON could bring in other DAW tracks via the AUX Inputs right? Like now for example how digital consoles like S-5 use Pro Tools for playback, they use descrete tracks....and these descrete tracks could be sourced from Nuendo, Pyramix, MMP-16, DD16PB but brought through the ICON aux i/o's right? Would this work?

Feaks,
Call Bob at Soundmaster. He was there at the AES show. If you need a synchronizer his stuff is hard to beat!
Here's a link: http://www.soundmaster.com/

Check out Ketchum stuff too. Equally as reliable as SoundMaster...and with intelligent design for your setup...much more cost effective.
