After more than 5 years with Session8/PC 5 days ago I've upgraded to PT|MIX/Mac. I cannot be happier. Initially I wanted to stay with PC, but I didn't - and I think I was right. With Digi announcments - one should be able to buy/upgrade PT|MIX till the end of 1998 and get: PT 4.3 software for Mac _and_ PC and free MegaReverb for Mac and (I suppose) something similiar for PC (maybe I'm wrong, but this will not happen). So I've lost PC software - and got very stable and mature system with TC Megareverb. Installation took half an hour! and the only drawback is only 3 PCI slots. I wanted to stay with PC mainly because of compatibility with my S8 archive - but PT/NT is not compatible with S8 .ses files. Knowing that I would buy PT a year ago! Second thing is plug-in availability - at the moment _none_. So maybe instead of waiting for NT solution one should consider switching platform http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif?
Funny that I've choosed Mac when Digi start to support PC, isn't it http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

Let me clear_up a few things here :P

ProTools NT is still under development ; that's why we have to be patient and let the 3rd parties companies such as Waves, Arboretum, TC, and others develop their own plug-ins for it. Not everybody has this patience, and the proof is on this user conference here.

* TDM Plug-ins WILL ALL come up on PT/NT. *

This is already in the process, just take a look at Line6.com and you'll see that AMP FARM 1.5 is really out for PT/NT. Thats a first example, and the others will follow during the next months ; im sure of that http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I've been a PC user for about 15 years, and I see no reason I should despair, sell my PC and buy a MAC with only 3 PCI slots, 1 button (!) mouse and most of all, I prefer putting the money on something else such as Plug-ins or a MixFarm card when It'll show up on my system instead of the new-top-of-the-hill-G3-costing-way-too-much-for-my-wallet.

Sorry! but my Wintel 400mhz PII running PT/NT already "rocks" and I'm doing a lot of cash with it http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

have fun and a Happy New Year,
