http://www.fxpansion.com - $99 download
Or hunt around some of the US stores - Sweetwater, AudioMIDI etc. - some of them have it a bit cheaper.

This is a little off the subject, but a friend who uses PTLE professionally has had great difficulty in getting good sonic results from the VST/RTAS wrapper (I assume its Fxpansion). I noticed Angus' reply in this thread and would appreciate a comment from him. As a hobbiest I'm pumped about Digi getting compatible with MAudio cause that gives me the capability to get on board the "Digitrain" without junking previous investments in soundcards, etc., but the expense of RTAS plugins was the other consideration I've had and I was looking to the wrapper to solve that. I'd welcome feedback.

I have been using the vst-rtas adapter with PTLE since it first came out, and now I'm using it with mPowered as well. The only time I have ever had "difficulty getting good sonic results" is when I was using some poorly written "free" vst, or when it was operator error. Otherwise, I have found that wrapped plugins function like they do natively in other programs. (Some of the wrapped ones even function better than the RTAS versions of the same plugs!)
Basically, the wrapper has very little to do with "sonic results"; it's the plugins themselves and the person using it.

Exactly.. the wrapper has no bearing on the sonic results. Using home-brewed freeware VSTs instead of $400 RTAS plug-ins, however, may have some bearing...

Kjarhus plugins have a free line and are very good. www.kvr-vst.com (http://www.kvr-vst.com) also has a lot of info about vst plugins (inluding a lot of free ones)

Thanks. This guy uses this stuff every day and has had problems. I'll find out more about what his issues are. Push come to shove I'll have him get in touch with Angus.
