View Full Version : Audiophile 2496 S/PDIF Latency?

I have an MBox with LE; I would like to move to M-Audio and add an Apogee Rosetta 200 and
track through the S/PDIF inputs. Then monitor on the Rosetta on the way out.

Anyone have a similar setup? I want to move to M-Audio because a native PCI card should
not have the latency issues on USB.

Am I correct?

Thanks

i use spdif out on an external dac with 128 buffer (<3ms).I have recorded a whole dat tape on that buffer also via spdif in without a glitch. There's a 64buffer also, but it's a bit clicky (but usuable). It depends on the power of your combo i suppose.Mine's an Athlon xp2600 on an Asus a7n8x-x with 1gig ram.

May I ask what external DAC receives your 2496 card's SPDIF signal?
Is this card glitch-free enough to use with an "audiophile" DAC, like
those from Camelot Technology, Benchmark, Lavry, Bel Canto, etc?
OR does click-free performance and other issues mainly depend on
my computer hardware? I have M-Powered ProTools running on a
Dell Dimension 8300 Pentium IV 3.4GHz desktop, 2.256GB RAM,
Windows XP Pro SP2.
