Just got the Xpand, very nice, useful instrument.
Digi, wee need "up" and "down" buttons for changing instruments instantly without having to pull up the entire list of sounds.

Perhaps someone can help me out with this Xpand question:

In the menu, it gives the option to click sub menus for various instruments...but I click and they don't come up...there is only a check mark on the pull down next to what I selected. Can't get to the sub menus.

Any help appreciated.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Mousing around to change patches just doesnt work for me. Up/Down arrows to change patches would be great. Add it!

There are two ways to avoid digging through the menus and sub-menus:

1. If you have a scroll-wheel mouse, hold your mouse over the instrument patch name (one of those 4 slots), and scroll up or down to change patches.

2. You can click on the +/- buttons at the top of the plugin window for next/previous patch.

This is in the manual.

Also, click the little "dual box" icon next to the +/- signs on the upper left hand corner... you will be able to choose a folder from there and use the up and down arrows to audition patches... you can also utilize the timer to change patches automatically.

Just figured out a way to move the Xpand!.dat file (the 600 something MB file with audio data) to a non system drive on Windows XP os. You need to have admin rights since this involves editing the registry.

Move the Xpand!.dat file (which is by default in C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Xpand! folder) to a desired drive into a desared folder. Then go Start > Run and type in regedit to run the registry edit tool. Follow this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wizoo\Xpand! in Regedit window. Double click "Content Path" and enter the new correct path in value data box.In my case it was D:\Xpand!\Xpand!.dat Press OK and close the window. You should be set.

This tweak worked for me without a problem but remember!!! Do this at your own risk! I'm not responsible if you screw up!

This was so easy to do on my Mac. Just installed the plug in and then copied the Xpand folder to an external drive and bada-bing bada-boom it was up and flying but not so simple on the PC...

Digi, do you have an alternate method of having the plug-in on the C Drive and the Content stored on a seperate drive?

Anyone else on PC getting "access violation" errors when using Xpand! with the patch manager function (the two rectangles on top of each other next to the + and - and patch name display at the top of the plug-in window)? Also the patch manager doesn't display everything correctly. The patch name menu works fine, as do the + and - buttons. I'm on 1.0.1.

Bump.

I'd certainly like to know how to relocate the .dat file to another drive on a PC.

Is the reg tweak the only way?

For now reg tweak is the only way, unless digi add an option or makes a relocate utility.
