Hi,
Thinking of picking this up... does anyone have any cons to using this product?? does it work well? Can I use it without any problems in PTLE 7?
Thanks,
Allan

FXPansion is the name of the company... they have many products; which one are you talking about?
VST-RTAS wrapper? A Must have.
BFD? Awesome drum sampler; highly recommended.
Those I have and can definitely recommend. They also offer:
Guru? Loop/groove sampler.
DR008? Battery replacement.
So? Which one were you curious about?

the VST to RTAS wrapper is indispensable.

Hi,
Ver 2 of the wrapper only works with PT7 and up, but owners of the new version 2 wrapper are entitled to download the previous version 1 for PT 6.2 to 6.9.
So buy version 2 and you'll be able to use both versions, and when you get PT7 you'll be able to use version 2 with all the new features and optimizations.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago and did a little test - instantiated Kontakt2 (not optimised for PT ver7 yet...) on an aux, loaded a pretty large preset and checked the CPU usage. Kontakt was just sitting there with the samples loaded (DFD ON) - no MIDI playing, just idling.
Then, I removed everything, and instantiated an FXPansion-wrapped (VST to RTAS) version of Kontakt 2. Loaded the same preset. CPU usage went up 100% from the RTAS non -optimised Kontakt2 usage..... I was shocked. Needless to say, not pleased...
I currently have an email in to FXPansion, and have not yet heard back anything, other than they are going to look into it.... It's now been a couple of weeks, and I haven't heard back yet. Will let everyone know what I'm told.
That's my .02 on the FXpansion VST-2-RTAS wrapper.

Hi Greg,
You must remember that there are 1,000,000's of VST instruments out there!! fxpansion can't be responsible for ALL of them and how they work under VST or under the wrapper.
There was no point at all in wasting time trying to maxx Kontakt for the wrapper when there is an RTAS version of Kontakt!!
Are you just trying to find fault with this product? haven't you got better things to do!! like contact Native instruments and asking them why they are dragging their feet over optimizing kontakt for PT7.
I have loads of VST's working under the wrapper and they all work great. the wrapper is a life saver for thousands of pro's and i know fxpansion have worked hard to get it to be as compatible as possible with as many VST as they can.

I'm currently stuggling with stuck midi notes on Rob Papen's 'Blue' synth - particularly on mono lead sounds....not sure whether it's the synth or the wrapper (no RTAS version of Blue, unlike 'Albino')...
Apart from that, the wrapper is a definite 'must have'!

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the time management suggestions... anyway, I was just curious about how it would respond, being optimised for PT7, that's all. Wasn't expecting to get the result I got.
I wasn't knocking it at all, just passing on a simple little test I did. Glad it works great for you guys that use lots of VSTs!

Hey Greg, i forgot to say, welcome to the DUC
To me, the wrapper is one of those products you can make observations about it! but to criticise it would be unfair to the many man hours of coding that it took to get it where it is. I love this product it enables me to use loads of great plugins that aren't available as RTAS or TDM, and i use these plugs everyday with little or no problems.
We'll have to start a post soon of all the best wrapped plugs to use! i have a few favourites but that's another post.
