View Full Version : Installed system startup and shutdown

At last, my Venue is on order! So, now the questions. Can the Venue system be started automatically when installed in a pa that has sequenced power switching? I am installing a Lyntech power sequencer to power the pa up and down. The Venue manual specifies a certain order for powering the system up and shutting it down. Can the power switches be left in the ON position on the various pieces and let the Lyntech do the sequencing? The Lyntech has adjustable timing between steps to allow for different "boot" times. I need to have a very simple startup process for my daytime users who are not techies. In other words, they need a one button startup.
For me, a dumb question, once I have the system configured and the plug-ins installed, does the system come up the same way each time? Specifically, do you have to reinstall the plug-ins and do you have to manually load a show before the system will run? Or can it automatically load a default show and be ready to process audio.

Hi,
Congratulations! Thank you for the support.
Re: power sequencing
Leave all units in their "ON" position and fire them up using the power sequencer. Once power is applied a second button press is required: the FOH Rack needs a manual press of its front panel power button in order to begin the boot process (it can't boot automatically when power is applied). Thus it's a "two button press" procedure.
I know of at least one installation that achieved a one button startup by using a solenoid plunger affixed to the FOH Rack. On startup, the plunger was driven as a virtual finger to press the power button.
Re: start up
The console always boots up in the same state it was powered down, with all console and plug-in settings intact. You don't have to explicitly load a show, unless you want to start from a different point than the last user left off. An alternate approach is to program a "reset console to defined state" snapshot and avoid loading shows altogether. This is a great way to go if you consistently use the same plug-ins and don't need to change the plug-in rack contents.
You won't need to re-install plug-ins either, but the plug-ins rack does need some time to initialize on boot up. It does this initialization automatically, and when you see the word "OK" in the bottom right hand corner of the screen you're good to go.
At present there's no way to have the console automatically load a pre-defined show on start up - duly noted for a future release.

Thanks, Sheldon. I think my other operators can do the two button thing. I'm sure I'll have lots more questions once our Venue gets here. We are ten months away from startup in our new building, but the plan is to set the system up and use a multitrack for inputs for the learning process and to then install it in our current facility until we move to make the transition from analog to digital a little smoother. I'm looking forward to it's arrival and to the help available on this forum.

I'm envisioning one of those "hand and arm" props that you hang out of your trunk to make people think you have someone lock inside

In my case,
I installed a sequenced power switching system for stage racks on a stage.
So, I just need to turn FOH Rack and D-Show up manually.
