I have an artist I'm putting together a show for and I was wondering if anyone has taken the time to analyze the pros and cons between tracked shows and sequenced shows? I can go either of the two routes with this, given that I have the sequences in the Triton studio with sampled vocal parts. I can also go the laptop route (Protools LE + 001) or the DAT route. All of them have the other musicians' parts deleted so they can play along. Anyone care to share their experiences in this area and which route they think is the best. I was thinking that the sound board engineer could have more control if I sent different instrument and vocal tracks out of the Triton but there may be a downfall to this. Anyone care to speak on it?

I think when doing a live show, reliabilty and real time backup should be top of the list for either method. Dual systems should be running with auto switching, all running on UPS.

That being said, I think either system would work depending a number of factors, such as cost and which one the operator was more comfortable with. All things being equal, I lean toward the Pro Tools option (tracked) for the ability to easily edit and tweek your tracks as your show evolves.
