(mac osx Macbook)
Not sure where to post this.
I manly Used LE Mbox Mini for Midi as that what we where doing in college for projects and stuff.

I am hoping to save studio time by recording guitar parts and bass parts at home and recording only vocals and drums at a studio o r at least be able to work out ruff demo of songs at home good enough to put out on an EP.

Any advice, I got pro tools mbox, Either I could Mic up Amp with Sm mic but being at home theres no empty room so it would have objects or plug into Mbox and using Plug,in Amps,

But would not be sure where to start.
what are the not to dos as well.

Example of recording I did, using a Dis Pedal.

Unfortunately, the recording process you are using is kind of backwards, no gouge intended. It you can, in the future, record your midi tracks with a drums and bass track, thats where the feel really starts. Don't get me wrong, you may have recorded a midi bass and drum tracks for reference and that's not too bad of a way.

But for guitar, use a good amp simulator. The dry can always be "reamped" and able to get you the exact ton you were looking for at the studio. DO the bass direct and dry. Same with the guitar. DOn't print any FX, but if you do, save the original dry track, even if you use an amp simulator, the dry track will still be there. If you are having a hard time recording with a simulator, add some transparent compression like a BF-76 and raise the output of the plug-in (P.S. this will give you more sustain and make playing easier on you).

As far as the bass goes, you "Could" use a Sansamp PSA 1) which has some great bass settings. But if you can use a better preamp, record it hot and right in the pocket (good or basic preamp) and then you have either winning tracks for the studio or keeper tracks for later. If you put a compressor behind the bass, try using a BF-2A which is a great slow compressor that is easy to use and it sounds great. Anyway, there's my three cents. Good luck and I hope this helps.

hi
i have a pod line 6 hardware amp modelling thing........

now i have a macbook and i like playing guitar in bed or wherever into pro tools.

so im plugging my electric guitar into my m-audio audio interface straight into pro tools. no effects.

which are the main plug-ins for guitar processing in pro tools?
eg...guitar effects, amp simulators etc.

if someone could tell me the best ones, and then i can go reserach them.

thanks
