I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with particular amp/cab combos to get a decent bass sound in Eleven. (Or maybe Digi will eventually be releasing a bass plug.)
Thanks

still havent tried. All my basswork gets farmed out and it usually comes pretty close to what I want.

i believe the amp the tweed bass was modeled after(fender bassman) was used for bass back in the day...

I'm also fairly sure that Jack Bruce was using regular 100 watt Marshall's back in the Cream era. He made due.
My old bass player ditched his (mine actually) Fender Bassman 100 head for my spare 100 watt HIWATT DR103 head and it sounded dramatically better (and it was twice as loud)
Back in the day....Man that sounds old;) a lot of "Bass" amps were just whatever that manufactures top of the line amp was with a one or two capacitors changed in the tone circuit sections to tailer the tone centers to bass, there's not much difference between a 100watt Marshall Superlead and a Superbass head.
A late 4-10 Fender Tweed Bassman, 50 Watt Bassman head, Super Amp, Pro Amp and a Super Reverb amp are all very similar with the selection of speakers and the inclusion of Reverb, Vibrato and ADC being the main differences between them
A lot of modern bass tracks are a mix if DI, Miked Amp and plugins these days. The only drawback I see to Eleven is that the cab choices are optimized for guitar. If they sound too odd just turn them off.
Remember your looking to add a touch of tube amp warmth so keep it fairly clean sounding-mix in the DI for solid bottom end.
I would like to see a Bass Players Eleven expansion pack someday also. Or something like a Studio Staples pack with a SVT, PortaFlex, Jazz Chorus, some awful sounding Polytone, SuperChamp etc would fill in some of the holes in the current offering.
You can demo Eleven for free so why not see if it adds what you want?

Thanks very much for the comprehensive response. I'll give the demo a shot. Plus, it looks like the new Pro Tools 8 that's just been announced will include a plug called Eleven Free, which might work too.
