I'v just began my 110 course, and was just about to choose my free plug in :-) when i noticed something odd, perhaps a mis-print or just out dated?

Enroll and attend the official Pro Tools 110 course at any official Digidesign Training Partner Facility and choose one free plug-in from the following group of Digidesign plug-ins:

• Synchronic
• Hybrid
• SoundReplacer
• Maxim
• Smack! LE
• DigiTranslator 2

Maxim is included as a plug in you can choose for free, yet maxim comes free already???

Im leaning towards Smack as out of the list that will get more use, but any thoughts on the maxim situation it be great if digidesign updated the list perhaps include something like  music production toolkit 2, still cheaper than digitranslator :p joking, dont think I'd get away with that one not that lucky, but a swap for maxim would be great.

Any thoughts, perhaps it is just a list that hasnt been updated?

Thanks:-)

I would lean towards either Digitranslater or Smack. I suspect that that list was never updated to reflect the changes made in PT8.0. Sound Replacer might also be a good one as I beleive its no longer included in the MPTK2 or DV2. If your fairly sure that one of the Toolkits might be in your future than I would look for a plug thats not included it the kit. Digitranslater is only included in the DVTK as I recall and 495.00 separately. The asset sells for around 150.00 on eBay the last I knew and if you work with or plan on working with OMF files its a must.

Hybrid, SMACK! LE, Maxim, Synchronic etc are all available on eBay or the DUC very inexpensively.

So....

Smack LE if you want a plug you may actually use mixing.
Digitranslater if you plan on collaborating with others or moving projects between DAWs.
Sound replacer if you plan on doing drum editing.

Just my opinion.

The list just hasn't been updated since 7.4. I noticed this as well.

Thanks for your replys :-) i was just wondering wether i was going crazy or not, as i can see digitranslator will be usfull for switching between daws etc. i only move sessions from home to college or with other PT users. Smack seemed that it would be a good edition to my arsenal for mixing.

I'm still going to wait a few days before i make my decision give it some good thought.:D

Thanks for you replys :-)

Any 1 else like to shre their thoughts ?

I know this is an old thread, just wanted to relay that they're still doing this deal (one free plugin from the list in the first response of this thread).

I wouldn't recommend jumping for MAXIM as it's free with LE 8 now. The only useful ones (in my opinion) are the Digitranslator or Hybrid.

Yeah, i knwo that is free now, i also have the licence for it that i got with my M-box 2 factory bundle, I decided to get the music production toolkit so since hybrid is included i chose the sound replacer.

Thanks anyway :-);)
