All running but no input from instrument

Hi all

Brand new to this so it's all learning for me. I have the software installed on my (Vista) machine, and the Fast Track connected. It all works, in that the software runs, loads sessions, plays back etc, & the PC recognises the interface and playback from 'Essential' is via the Fast Track outputs (eg to headphones). The only probelm I seem to have is that when a guitar is plugged into the interface it's signal does seem to reach the 'Essential' software - I know there is a signal becasue I get a good 'direct monitor' output back to headphones if selected, but it doesn't seem to go any further. As far as I can see everything is as it should be, but no instrument input (I don't have a mic to try out) to the software.

What am I doing wrong?

The Guitar Input on the Fast Track is In 2. The track in Pro Tools defaults to input 1. From the mixer window, go to the I/O section and click to change the input for your mono audio track to be interface>In 2 (Mono).
