These mic preamps are consecutive serial numbers, and have been racked by Oliver at TAB-Funkenwerk in Seattle, WA. For those who don't know, TAB-Funkenwerk are considered THE official experts on everything TAB. Oliver worked for TAB in Germany during the 80's, before they went belly up, and has single handedly rebuilt more TAB/Telefunken modules than probably anyone in the US, maybe the world. Here's the link to his site: TAB-Funkenwerk (http://www.tab-funkenwerk.com/)

These modules are from a Neumann console. They were built by TAB as direct replacements for the Neumann v476 modules for their(Neumann's) studio, broadcast and mastering consoles. They are discrete, transformer balanced(in and out) microphone preamps which feature 76dB of gain selectable via stepped(6dB steps) input gain and continuously variable fine gain knobs; phase reverse; selectable highpass(off, 80Hz, 160 Hz, and 320Hz), 48v phantom power, and unheard of noise specs(-136dB at 76dB of gain, seriously!!!).

These preamps also have a pin 1(ground) lift on each channel, as well as a selectable input impedance on the pack panel. This feature makes these preamps even more flexible. the 100 ohm setting is useful with older ribbon mics (i.e. RCA, etc. which want to see a lower impedance load), or to vary the characteristics of condenser mics.

They have been completely recapped and hand tweaked by Oliver to within very close tolerances as a matched pair. They are VERY forward sounding mic pre's, reminiscent of API but with even more guts(if you can believe that... believe it!). These preamps are punchy, gutsy and in your face.

I bought four of these ultra rare modules out of Germany last year, and finally had them racked a couple months ago. I'm keeping a pair for myself, and selling a pair.

Pics available upon request.

$1500 O.B.O. Will consider trades.

I'm reviving this thread as I'm now (3 years later) selling the second unit.

Looking for $1300 OBO.
