View Full Version : To Tech Support : SCSI Driver
Do you see a problem in using the ATTO SCSI drivers instead of using HDT 3.02. We always have crashes while coping from AVID drives to HDT installed drives. No problems with ATTO drivers ? The other advantage for us is that the ATTO drivers support harddrives in canisters (Pseudo removable)

Hi Toko,
There are some issues with the ATTO drivers that make them not good for use with Pro Tools at this time.
As a workaround for finder copying from single (non-striped) Avid volumes to HDT volumes, try the following:
If the Avid drive does not mount on the desktop, don't worry. Launch HDT, select the Avid drive, then hold down the Option and Command keys while you click the Unmount button. Then, release the Option and Command keys and click on the Mount button. The Avid drive should now be mounted and visible on the desktop. It will be temporarily under the control of the HDT driver.
If the Avid drive is mounted on the desktop, perform the same procedure.
Unfortunately, there is no way to do this with striped volumes, only single volumes.
Also, what SCSI accelerator are you using?
Let me know if this works for you.

Steve !
Thank for your advice with HDT. Actually I donīt like this procedure very much because you really need to be careful. Most of the time the assistants in our house are doing the file transfers and I donīt feel good to let them play around with HDT and a couple of hardrives with a whole project on it.
We are using Atto Dual Channel UW in a 9600/300. I switched to apple drivers on our Audio drives to see how they work. Any comments ?

Hi Toko,
Since we don't test with the Apple drivers, I can't give you a definitive answer. I can tell you that many users have had success with them, but in this case, HDT is the "known" quantity for us and the Apple drivers are the "unknown."
Let me know what your experience with the Apple drivers is.
Thanks.

I have the same problems here when I need to transfert things from Avid drives to HDT drives (or the other way). Changing the drivers help, but I was wondering if you came up with a cleaner way to copy from drives to drives ? Something that solves the issue ? New firmware of ATTO, new version of ADU or use ExpressPro-Tools instead of HDT ?
Thank you Steve !
