I have at last found time to do some initial tests on an Orb drive with Protools!
The test concised of recorded 2 tracks at a time for 1 minute duration whilst playing back the rest and continuing until I got a disk too slow error message. It was interesting that the more tracks there were the longer the LED would be amber instead of green.
Using the Orb driver I was able to get 20 tracks OK Fell over trying to record tracks 21 & 22
I then reformatted using Anubis v3.04 and got exactly the same track count.
All these tests done on a Mix Plus system on a 9600/200 on the Mac scsi buss. However I suspect because of the way the disk access LED was staying amber that this limit is down to the drive itself.
I havn't had a chance to see how it handles fragmented sessions yet.
Will report back when I get an opportunity to experiment further.
