View Full Version : Can't Close Preferences Window

There is no way (that I can find) to close the Preferences dialoge window, short of doing a "force quit", in which case none of my pref's are saved. There are no visible "Okay" or "Cancel" buttons. The window is not resizeable. There is no "close window" box in the title bar.

My system: OS 8.6; Motorola StarMax 3000 (200mHz); Samsung Syncmaster GL monitor

Otherwise, everything runs great!
Thanks for any help. - Dave

You don't see the "Done" button at the bottom?

Nope. Not even a "Done" button. Nuttin', Nada, Zip, Zero, Zilch. Yes, we have no buttons today! http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

It may be a glitch unique to my system. Wouldn't that be special. http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for the reply, -Dave

Maybe the Done button is off the bottom of the screen. Try increasing your screen resolution in the Monitors control panel.

Hi David,

I had a look on my PT free on imac, the done button is located quite low on this 'long' window.

I teach on Bath college (BTEC / music tech) by the way, have come across your name, believe we might have even met.

Thank you Jan & Tokyo Rose. Changing the monitor resolution did the trick. Funny thing is that prior to increasing the resolution I was able to drag the window up so that I could see the lower edge of its frame, but the Done button was absent.

Jan, It is possible that we have met. Although there are a lot of David Pierce's out there. If you get the notion, e-mail me dpierce@c-zone.net or drop by my website http://www.dpierce.com

Thanks again - Dave

This isn't a bug or a feature? http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/confused.gif
OK, anyone trying to run PT on 640x480 may be handicapped, mentally or financially....
But there's nothing in the ReadMe & the QuickStart, the only refs to monitors is to set colors to 256 for 9600s

However: http://www.digidesign.com/compato/mainfreemac.html

has one little line:
Monitor, color required, minimum resolution of 832 x 624

Yes the iMac's 800x600 resolution leaves some things off the screen. The one I noticed was the pop-up for nudge and grid. You could still enter numbers with the cursor, but menu is unavailable.
But you can just go to 1024x768on the iMac and it is very viewable.

As for the preferences, they can be closed with the ENTER key.
