I can't open PTFree, because I get an OTUtilityLib not found message. I'm running OS 8.6 on a 7100/100 w/ a G3 233 card in it. Where can I download this Lib?

Sounds like you don't have a full install of 8.6 (or have some extensions disabled). I would guess you don't have the full Open Transport on your machine.

This is interesting. I have a very similar setup (Powermac 7100, G3 upgrade, system 8.6) and I am not able to launch because of the error "driverserviceslib not found." Being fairly familiar with the guts of my system folder, I can't say I've ever seen this library. Can anyone tell me if they have this in their system folder, and what system they are running (I have 8.1 and 7.5 installed on other hard drives attached to my computer, and it isn't in those system folders either)?

Reading further down this forum, there is a note which suggests that our problem is that our lowly NuBus macs aren't supported by this version of ProTools. What a bitch! We can still dream however of translucent plastic and optical mice.

I gave a wrong description. I have a pci 7500/100. I reinstalled the 8.6 update, and that did not have the OTU...lib in it. Any other suggestions?

Turn on all the OT extensions. I got up and running. Thanks all.

I installed on a 7500/G3 and an 8100/G3. It works on the 7500 but I get the "driverserviseslib" error on the 8100.
Searching the 7500 for driverserviceslib shows nothing.

PT free will not run on nubus macs. (at least not unless someone figures out a hack for it)

I know this problem.

You need to play this game 'find the extension that kicks Open Transport out of the memory'

OTUtilityLib is an internat part of one of the OT extensions. No wonder nobody can find it. It isn't realy a file.

Start with disableling any third party extensions, and check what extensions actually do. Kick out all printer stuff etc. for your separate ProTools extension set.

Hi,

I have a Mac G4 400MHZ, 192RAM and I get the OTUtilityLib error too... all my OT extensions are loaded, oms too and the digi ones also.
I know I "play" around alot in conflict catcher and have 5 extensions set (one normal, one optimized for Bias DECK 2.63, couple others and made one for PTfree). Ptfree and Deck and similiar but deck doesnt load digi extensions. I disable everything in those 2 sets except monitor/screen settings, audio and really really vital extensions. Everything else is no enabled. I don't know which OT i forgot to load... anyway, if someone could help, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

In Conflict Catcher, choose "Mac OS 9.0.4 Base" and make a copy of it. Add OMS and the Digi Extensions, save and restart.
(if you are not sure which Digi Extensions should be installed, restart with just the Mac OS Base set , make a copy, add the OMS extension, and run the Pro Tools FREE installer again)
Give that a shot. If you still get the OTUtilityLib not found error, then you should probably re-install your Mac OS from the original CD. (then install the Mac OS 9.0.4 update if the OS that came with your G4 is 9.0 or 9.0.2)

Hello,

I get a message saying DriverServicesLib caould not be found, when I try PT free on a 7100 NuBus computer, OS 8.6. To the best of my knowledge this is an embedded part of the system (hidden) as a search revealed nothing of the kind on a 200 gig disc array, with everything from OS 6 to OS 9 on it. I will try to get into it with Code Warrior and make a hack for this as soon as I get un-busy. If I could just get 2 voices with a few plug-ins on a 7100 I would be happy.

Regards
