Hi,
I am trying to run pro tools free on a system using OS 8.6 on which I didnt' install Open Transport... is there one open transport file that I can use so that I can finally get PTF to launch instead of having it, telling me it can't launch cause it can't find OTUtility Lib or do I have to install all of Open transport for it to work.
thanks in advance,
richard sven

I got the same message. I couldn't find the OTUtilityLib extension anywhere. When I followed the directions explicitly, and installed the Pro Tools onto a clean initialized hard drive, with the OS base extension set, I had no more trouble of the kind you mention.

I never did fnd the OTUtilityLib extension.

Pro Tools does need open transport to run. Installing it should solve your problem.

I took Mike's advice, turned on appletalk, and all the OT extensions, even though there was no OTUtilityLib. Rebooted, and PRESTO! I'm up and running! Thanks Mike

You need OT, but you don't need appletalk to be active. Turn it off unless you need it for something.
