OK.

The C24 has a whole bunch of connections. But how does one do layback to tape (6 tracks or more) when the outputs from C24 are used up for surround monitoring and the outputs from the 888 are connected to the C24?

Or is it almost necessary to get another Audio Interface simply for this?

There seems to be a lack of outputs for laybacks....

we use the digital outs to lay back to vtrs etc, and the analogue only for monitoring. hope this helps

For me it depends were I'm routing but I added a 192 DA card (8 an-in 16 an-out).
I also use the 8 Dig-outs as well as a FW Core audio device for other apps.

For mixing I rout out Digital back in to empty tracks.
A Patch-bay helps for other scenarios.
