I've fooled around trying to get away from the mouse when navigating the edit window, but man it seems kinda convoluted to me. Any of you guys having any luck with it? I mean, I paid a lotta $ like everybody else, but the further along I go with this thing the less impressed I am. Maybe I'm still thinking to traditional?

Had mine a few months now, Still use the mouse/keyboard for even arming record tracks.
I am going to have to go cold turkey and start using it.
Mind you I still use the space bar for play a lot of the time as well.

For doing fader mixing it is cool, for editing, I do not know I said it before a trackball instead of the shuttle wheel would of been better.

I don't see the C24 as a replacement for the mouse/keyboard. I see it as an extension to them. I can do almost all my mixing with the C24/mouse combo (no getting away from the mouse. Period!) without really using the keyboard at all. As far as editing goes the keyboard/mouse combo is the way to go. There are some basic editing tools on the C24 but the keyboard is way more comprehensive.

Every working day with C24 sees a small change in the way I work.
I now do all mixing with just the mouse and C24, moving the keyboard to the left...

I start using more and more features of the C24.
The new 5.1.1 feature of copying and pasting settings between plugins on different tracks is quite cool. I used it when EQing a pair of accoustic guitars.
I haven't even tried to edit with the C24, I use it mostly as a mixing, monitoring and transport tool.

I love the fact that I now have three ways to hit record: F12, Command-Space and the play button, depending on what I'm doing at the same time, like adjusting the headphone mix, adjusting my mix or dimming the monitor.

Sounded like science fiction just four months ago...

PS. Still waiting for my replacement unit as the paint is peeling off and the print is fading... Otherwise all is great.

I think Ashdot is right when he said "Every working day with C24 sees a small change in the way I work". Maybe my post was a bit premature. I really like the banking feature & assigning inputs, outputs etc is a joy compared to mousing around. I still have to "stop & think" quite a bit when I want to make a move but I think it will become second nature in a while. I. too, am waiting on my 3Rd unit. First one had the 60hz problem & the current one has one shot mic ore & no headphone output on the console. Paint is smudging a bit & the letetering is starting to fade on this one. I am waiting for the EEPROM update for the control room monitor before I have them send me a new one.

No keyboard anymore here except for writing names, of course. I can do some plugin editing, but using the mouse is still easier.
I do all the basic cut/copy/paste/separate/group/trim region on C24.

Ashdot, how do you copy and paste plugs settings in 5.1.1?

Thanks

I just got a PT rig with a Control 24. So I am fortunate to be jumping head on into this program with the C24 from day 1. I don't think you can expect the board to replace the mouse and keyboard. I am learning to use them together. I like the dedicated editing buttons on the C24. I love the monitor section, mic pres and just finally getting to mix with faders!!! (I have been working with many software programs over the past few years and mixing with the mouse.) I love calling up plug-in settings on the C24. I have no complaints about this thing. In fact I have talked to some Pro Control people that are jealous of us C24 users. I think you have to start forcing yourself to use the C24 functions and then you'll sink into using it in combination with the keyboard and mouse. Just a little input from a 21 year-old kid, I ain't no seasoned vet like you guys.

Marcello, to copy plugin settings :

On the left side of C24, above the automation modes buttons (although I'm not in front of my C24, I hope I remember correctly), are three buttons that became usable in 5.1.1. The uppermost button says "copy plugin parameters" or something similar. Open a plugin, push that button, open the same plugin on a different track then push the third button "paste plugin parameters"(or something). There you go.

Now Hardnox, how do you call up plug-in settings on the C24? Do you mean you can scroll thru the various settings?

To call up plug-in settings, select a plug-in the mix window (inserts). Depending on the plug-in type, a button will light on that track on the C24. For example if you select a compressor, then the "Dynamics" button will light. Push the lit button and the scribble strips will now show all of dynamic plug-ins for that track (it may just show all your plug-ins for the track). Now select which plug-in to work with by pressing the button below the pan knob. All your scribble strips and pan knobs are now plug-in parameters. Have fun with 'em. I'm still new at this so I hope I explained well enough. This is how it's done though.

I guess we had a misunderstanding... When you said "call up", I thought you meant I could actually scroll thru the various presets and chosse one from the C24...
