Can anyone offer a detailed answer as to how I should go about moving one or two bass notes (or guiter or whatever) in a song so that they line up better with the kick?

Thanks,

1) Highlight the note/waveform (at or near a zero sample level at beginning and end)
2) Create a separate region for it. (comm+E)
3) While highlighted, nudge as needed (set nudge to "time" and "001 milliseconds" for accurate detail work.
4) Clean-up with fades if needed.
5) When bass player say's "isn't my timing great" reply "you da' man" images/icons/wink.gif

Whew! You must be pretty fast on the plus/minus key. I set my nudge factor to 3ms and even then I feel like a woodpecker at times. images/icons/smile.gif

I find that it is easier to have the supertool selected with the graber set to "Seperation grabber". Next, move your tracks so that the bass is just under the kick and snare tracks, so you can see where everything should line up. Having a click track would be better, so you know that all the drums are already lined up. Then, look/listen through your bass track for notes that are early or late. When you find these, Highlight the area with the selector supertool, then grab it with the seperation grabber and move it to where it should be. THen drag out the ends of the new moved region to make sure the ends line up where the volume is lower (i.e. just before it goes to another note). Then p[lace crosfades on the end with the supertool. The cool thing about this technique is that it is fast and you never have to switch tools. THe supertool is all in one! Try it and let us know how you like it. images/icons/cool.gif

Yeah...but, is there a way to shut off that "SuperTool" from performing crossfades? After the 400th edit on the drum group, I sometimes accidentally slip and make a crossfade. It bites.

Here's a quick way. Chop the bass note at the beginning and end. Put the cursor at the kick drum's attack and control click (mac) or start click (windows) the bass note region with the grabber tool. The bass note snaps to the kick. Crossfade each end of the bass note and your done. I'm all over the smart tool, so this would take me literally under 5 seconds.

I don't know how to use the smart grabber, cause i am rather lazy and don't want to look for my manual. Someone want to give me a quick run down of it's advantage??

Sure. Page 29 in your manual, or check the online version of the manual.
