First off, forgive me for placing this question here, but I couldn't find an appropriate place to post it ... and as this is one of my favorite forums, I figured someone here could help.

I am frustrated with the overall forum system. Hopefully it is just me and somebody can set me straight. But when I visit a particular area there are symbols on the left telling me if there are new posts since my last visit or not. Very often the topics which say they have new postings in them do not. And even if they do, I have to scroll down, trying to figure out what I've already seen. That part is not so bad, but marking topics as having new postings when they don't is really annoying. I wind up wasting a fair amount of time.

So I thought maybe I have to log out and log back in. I tried that, but no difference. I also visit several similar type web-based forums (though on very different subjects) and they are always very accurate in showing me what I've seen or not. These are under the Delphi system.

So if I'm somehow just out to lunch, would some kind soul set me straight? (I did check the faq, and found nothing relating to this issue.)

Thanks,
Kurt

You might try clearing your cookies (nice phrase, that) with the link in the DUC FAQs: http://duc.digidesign.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=faq#cookies_clear

They sometimes get corrupted.

Since I spend a lot of time on the forum, I've added a bookmark to my desktop that brings up the "Today's Active Topics" page immediately: http://duc.digidesign.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_daily

Or you can add it to your Favorites or Bookmarks. I have it there, and in either Netscape or IE, you can drag the icon on your browser's address window to the desktop or any folder to have a clickable url outside of your browser.

This is also on the DUC footer links, and visible from the DUC homepage at http://duc.digidesign.com
I find that if you spend a lot of time on the DUC, it's easier to start with this list of new posts or the DUC homepage first in it's own window, rather than in the frameset of the main site.
I also find the new posts page easier to navigate than necessarily using the light bulbs.
So once you open the Active topics page, click on a link to a topic that you want to read. When you're done, just hit your back button and you are back on the Active page. Hit Refresh or Reload if you haven't been there for a bit.

If you post to one of the topics, you can't use your back button, or you'll probably double post. Just use the link at the bottom of the page to "Today's Active Topics" to go back to that page.
