recording from cd

My issue is this. I am simply trying to record from cd. will I need to run a cd player thru one of the audio (3-8) ports on the 001 in order to do this or can I use the onboard cd rom drive from my computer...if so would I need to record it as a wave then import to Pro Tools or can I drag it in there. images/icons/confused.gif ok

There's an easier(and better sounding) way to do that. Get a CD ripping program like Audiograbber http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/
What this does is it "rips" the tracks off your CD and puts them into your hardrive, bypassing your soundcard so that there is no tonal colorization added to the tracks. That way what you are getting is a perfect duplicate of what's on the CD. Then, once you have the tracks put into your hardrive, just import them into ProTools from there.
