Here's a little trick i figured out this weekend...only works if ya got SoundReplacer and MicModler.
First, take your kick drum track and duplicate. On the dupe track, use SoundReplacer to replace the kick track w/ the kick sound of your choice.
Make sure your kick hits are lined up.
Next, on a mono aux track, buss over the NEW
kick track into the aux. On the AUX put MicModler on it.
Here is where the fun begins......use the bypass as the source mic....for modeled mics, i noticed that the coles 4038 produced a very fat sound. Proximity @ 6" and the tube thing images/icons/wink.gif up to about 7.
Inserting a Compressor on the SoundReplacer Kick helps out the modeled kick too.
I decided to try this because i do not have U47 to put 3 or 4 feet in front of my drummers kick drum, and i do not have enough soundpadding to produce a tunnel either.
The reason i used SoundReplacer on the original kick is just to make sure i have NO
bleed over.....i guess you could use a gate too.
Other mics that sounded favorable....U47, U87
audix,,,but i forget which one images/icons/blush.gif !
I tried this on snare but the results were not as favorable as quickly.
I will post the snare trails as soon as i get something i like.
Hope this helps someone images/icons/cool.gif
