Assuming one already has SDII installed on a drive (be it 2.8 - NUBUS, or 2.82 / PCI), are there any issues with running it on OS8? How about Protools 4.01? Right now I am running 4.01 on 7.6, and SDII 8.2 on a Q700 on 7.5.1. Thanks - Mark.

The copy protection used in Sound Designer II 2.8 is incompatible with Mac OS8. This means that you will have problems authorizing or deauthorizing the software while booted under OS8. If SDII is already authorized on a drive, and the drive is updated to OS8, it will probably continue to work (until you need to deauthorize). Keep in mind however that SDII versions earlier than 2.83 are not officially supported under OS8 at all. For OS8 compatibility, you should upgrade to SDII 2.83. Contact (http://www.digidesign.com/Newdigiweb/Digimisc/contact.html) Customer Support for more information on upgrading.

Pro Tools 4.0.1 was also never tested under Mac OS8, but does seem to work just fine. PT 4.0.1 uses a new version of copy protection that does not conflict with OS8. Authorization and deauthorization should be no problem in this case.

Gees! OS8.1 works fine for everything but Sound Designer II... What happened to the upgrade I heard about from at Digi via telephone about two months ago?

& he was right, PT 4.1 didn't have all of the features of SD II... I just got the v.4.1.1, w/ new DAE that now allows me (hopefully) to use the DAE w/ Studio Vision Pro...& do synching. Thanks for that.

We are still testing OS8.1. It is not supported at this time. Sound Designer 2.83 does support OS8.0.
