Default Control 24 Fader suddenly has gone berserk

Hello All,
The second fader on my Control 24 has suddenly gone beserk - when I pull it low, it starts chattering uncontrollably. Does anyone have any ideas about what I need to do to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Todd

You probably have to replace that one fader.

I had the same issue and I moved that fader from 21 to 1 to make sure it was that problem. It was.

Unfortunately the Digistore has no more in stock. Try to contact them I guess.

Thanks Kenny -
Is replacing the fader very difficult? Is there a step by step pdf anywhere that I could follow while I perform the surgery?
TIA,
Todd

It's really easy although I'm sure that Digi will say not to do it.

Just pull off the back screws and I believe there's a screw at the bottom of each fader.

Thanks Kenny -
So to be clear, I should lay the control 24 on its face and go at from the unit's bottom?
Thanks,
Todd

You can contact tech support by phone (use the Pro Access Line number - your charges will be reversed) to get a new fader as well as instructions on how to install it.

Do as above.

But yes. You turn it over and remove the screws on the bottom.

Digi- so is calling in on the support line, waiting on hold, and having the charges reversed the only way to get replacement faders?

It would seem much easier to just order online (even if they're back-ordered... though it sounds like Digi must have a reserve)

Is there an expected date to be able to just purchase from the store?

or maybe as a courtesy tell us wha make/model it is and we could search the DigiKeys, Mousers, etc for an alternate source?

At the moment, yes - until they get more faders in stock in the Avid Store, contacting Tech Support is the only way. If hold times are a concern - the typical hold time for the PAL line is under 2 minutes.

I don't have a date for supply to be back in the store - I'll see if I can find out, as well as which model/make it is...

If it helps, I'll take one too.

I've been a bit lazy on this after I put the bad fader on channel one.

I still love my Control 23.
